Does it matter if you have .biz or .info extensions to your domain – are they equal to .com or .co.uk?

The .info and .biz domains have a specific bias. A .biz domain indicates / was originally intended for a commercial / business website. A .info domain indicates / was originally intended for information / informative resource pages – so, not really business / commercial. Although there may be no stated requirement that this is absolutely the case when you register for one of these domains, nevertheless the bias towards that type of site is implied, and may well be taken into account by search engines. Traditional .com or .co.uk don’t have these biases / influences attached to them, so we could assume that the search engines are likely to rank .com and co.uk domains higher in a general search although there is no real way of telling for sure (because Google’s algorithms are secret) apart from our own observation and experience. There appear to be many entries on SEO forums though suggesting that .biz domains don’t perform so well in the search engines.
