I have listened closely to what Mike and others have said about getting related, quality links to my main website and many microsites and it is true that it does bring in a large amount of qualified niche traffic, which is great - I am certainly not complaining.
The one major downside to this is that now my details and email are so widely distributed around the net, the spammers are attacking me with a vengence. Until recently I was getting about 400 spam emails a day.
I have tried several spam filters and tried blocking the key words which the spammers use (Viagra, Russian bride, HSBC etc) but somehow the spam seems to get through.
The best spam filter I have found so far is the one from Trend Micro. But rather than deal with the spam when it arrives I wondered if Mike or Paul or any of the rest of you had any thoughts about how I can somehow cloak my email address so the spam bots don't pick it up, yet make it visable to my customers. I know I can put it in a JPG on my own site but that method won't work when I am putting my details on forums, club and trade association websites etc. _________________ Mike Starr

Hi Mike - this is a pain. On adding an email to a website - you can, as you say - use a .jpg image - or even something like mikestarr<atsymbol>mikestarr.com for example to fool the bots.
However, on forums, they have scripts to detect valid email addresses so you might consider a pro-active email program where email doesn't get through until the sender has validated themelves by entering a Form etc.
I send you an email
You software emails me saying "Oi - who are you? Confirm yourself here?"
I confirm I'm a real person
The Email gets through to your whitelist - et voila!
